Grading
- You will have the option of writing a paper or completing a take-home, final exam. Whichever you choose will constitute 80% of your grade. Deadlines for the paper option are: (1) Outline, February 15, (2) Rough Draft, March 21, (3) Final Draft, April 22.
- The remainder will be determined based on your classroom participation. In particular, I will be looking for everyone to contribute regularly. But I also ask (1) that at least twice during the semester you post, on the course website and in advance of class, reactions to the assigned reading for that class in order better to facilitate discussion.
- And (2) you will need to attend at least one public meeting relevant to land use planning. For example, you could attend a meeting of the Athens-Clarke County Planning Commission, which meets the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. (See the Commission’s website for more information.) Within two weeks, you should post a substantial (whatever is necessary, but typically several pages) summary and analysis of the issues discussed.
